Frequently Asked Questions

My email is and you are always welcome to email me with any questions you may have.

I am private pay only at this time and do not take insurance.

The cost for a 50-minute session is $120.

I do have limited lower fee slots, you are always welcome to reach out to see if there is one available.

I currently have more availability on Fridays and some availability on Mondays. You are always welcome to reach out and ask as my availability may change.

Unfortunately, there are several steps going up to the office building so right now I am not in an ADA accessible space, I am hoping that can change soon.

Yes! You may take any space in the parking lot immediately outside of the office building.

This is a chance for us to get a little sense of each other before we have an in-person appointment. You get to ask anything your heart desires about the counseling process, the way I work, etc. And if you don’t have questions, that is a-ok, too.

We also get to cover some logistics and I get to ask a few questions around safety and making sure that individual counseling one time per week seems like an appropriate fit.

Totally! a sign that you are human. It is natural to be nervous when talking with someone you haven’t talked to before especially when you can’t see their expressions. I will try and make the experience as seamless and comfortable as possible.

Yes! I offer a 20-minute google hangouts chat option under my Hipaa secure G-suite. You are welcome to ask for that in the place of a phone call.

After our free phone consultation and determining an appointment time, I will send you an email invitation welcoming you to sign into a secure client portal where you can fill out all necessary paperwork anytime before our first session.

I just became a client

  • There is a waiting area, I will come greet you at time of appointment and show you to the office.
  • The beginning of our session will be re-iterating some of the key points from the paperwork and I can answer any questions you may have.
  • From there I will usually offer some grounding exercise and then together we can explore where we want to start, everyone is different so I always want to make sure that where we start feels ok.

Nope, you don't need to bring anything since you filled out necessary paperwork on the portal.

We can decide the best option that works for you during our first session

There are several options that are in person:

Square card reader, cash and check that I ask for at the beginning of the session.

You can also sign into Simple Practice and charge your card by the beginning of our session.

You are also welcome to ask me to set up an automatic payment on the secure Simple Practice client portal which charges the evening after scheduled sessions and can be paused at any time.

Pretty standard, if you cancel before 24 hours then there is no fee. If you cancel under 24 hours there is a fee.

Exception: If the cancelation is due to inclement weather that is out of your control there is no fee.

If I have availability in my schedule I will often try to work with you to reschedule within the same week you missed.

Counseling process

This is unique to you! We can work together as long as it is therapeutic and feels helpful and supportive. We are not held to any timeframe and we can go at the pace that feels right for you while we build a therapeutic relationship.

Also unique to you! I want to meet you where you are at and will check in to see how the process is going for you.

Approaches I draw from:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
  • Attachment-Focused Therapy
  • Person-Centered Therapy

Some of the tools I use to deepen self-compassion and understanding:

  • Mindfulness exercises and Grounding exercises
  • Exploration through Art
  • Exploration through writing
  • Exploration through inner dialogue
  • Exploring feelings toward past self
  • Exploration of attachment patterns in the room
  • Exploration of what body is communicating
  • EMDR resourcing
  • Exploring how the brain and body are impacted by trauma

I use the Simple Practice Portal to write a case note with general information about our session such as appointment time, themes brought up and therapeutic plan moving forward.

As I am working toward licensure I do have a supervisor who has access to these case notes. She does have the ability to look over them from time to time so I can ensure I am providing the most appropriate and supportive care.
